Project DEKO-OP

Salutations, Dekaron!

We’re almost done with Action 24, and our next project is going to be to start taking note of players who are interested in going the extra mile in terms of contributions to Dekaron: Global, and the player community. In addition to serving the community by incentivizing content creation, Project DEKO-OP will allow us at Papaya, and your fellow players, to see who’s contributed, and how.

We often receive requests from players about the GM recruitment process. Since our current GM’s have been with the game longer than Papaya Play has been publishing it, there has no actual formal application process. So another goal for Project DEKO-OP is for us to get a list of reliable, knowledgeable, helpful, and courteous players, for when the time comes to expand our GM roster.

How to Contribute

In order to post in the DEKO-OP channel, you’ll need to be added to the list of Twilight Knights. To become a Twilight Knight, you’ll need a Discord account and an associated Dekaron account, both in good standing. Get in touch with myself or one of our verified Discord admins, and provide:

Your primary Dekaron AccountID,

The name you’d like to be known by, and

A brief description (one or two sentences) of the kind of content you hope to create or assist with.

When that’s done, we’ll add your name to the list on the official forum (just your public name, we won’t share any of your account info), and you can join the discussion, and start helping out with content.

If you have something in mind, such as a specific guide or other project, let us know (via message, Discord, or forum post) what you’re working on, and how long you think it will require. We’ll share what’s already in the works, so we don’t end up with multiple players working on similar content.

Once your content is complete, we’ll still need to evaluate it for accuracy, readability, and other factors in order to make sure that it’s something we can share on our official site. All complete content will need to be evaluated by at least four* other Twilight Knights, and be modified/corrected to their approval. Also, our current GM’s will still have the final say on whether something can be shared.

*Subject to change.

Once your content has been approved, we’ll make it available for everyone to see, on our official wiki or another channel.

  • Content We’re Looking For

The most obvious type of content we need is complete descriptions on classes, skills, and other information (just hard data, not which ones are “the best”). Ideally, we would like complete data on each skill, presented in an understandable format. We have access to some of this data on our end, but not all of it, and much of it is either from out-of-date notes, or buried far enough in the DB that it might as well be inaccessible. And while some classes/skills/etc are more popular than others, we’d like to have complete data for everyone before delving to deeply into specifics, so we may wait until we have basic data for all classes/skills/etc before requesting more detailed numbers for specific skills. We’d like everything to keep a consistent format for ease of readability.

    Basic class descriptions

    Basic skill descriptions

    Detailed skill descriptions/data

    Basic item information (stats)

    Basic dungeon information

    Basic stat descriptions

(When it comes to things like item stats, I can provide most of the raw information. Unfortunately I don’t have raw skill data, so that may take some manual work to figure out.)

We would also like to include basic starter guides. How to play certain classes, where/how to find rare items, mechanic guides, etc. You don’t have to start right from the beginning, but keep in mind that not everyone is approaching the game from your level of expertise, so please include as much detail as is reasonable when creating your guide. And while we know that not everyone who plays Dekaron: Global speaks English as their first language, we’ll require guides to be written in readable English for now.

    Class guides/builds

Detailed item information (how to obtain, best items for which situations)

    Detailed dungeon information/guides

    Stat mechanics

Gameplay videos are popular, and there’s already no shortage out there. We'd like to feature gameplay videos in our weekly patch notes and official social media channels. It will need to be exciting, rather than just 30 minutes of farming. We’re not going to share footage which intentionally mocks or disrespects other players, or contains offensive content or copyrighted media.

Art/fiction includes anything you’ve produced along those lines. You’ll need to demonstrate that a substantial amount of time went into it, but we know that we have creative players, and would be happy to share your talents.

The Korean Dekaron site is publishing a multi-part novel, and no doubt at least a few of you are curious about what's in it. We don’t really have time at Papaya to translate it ourselves, but if there are players who can get us a readable English translation, we’ll happily share it and credit you accordingly.

These are only a few specific examples, so let us know what you can come up with.

  • Dawn Knight

Depending on how much content we receive, we will make the decision at some point as to how much a player needs to contribute to become a Dawn Knight. As a Dawn Knight, we expect that you will continue to produce content and offer feedback, but we will also hope that you’ll take on a more leading role in the community, such as answering questions on Discord. We’ll also shorten the approval process for your content, or content which has your approval.

We will listen to you about some of your ideas for in-game events, and will try (a little) harder to get feedback from the developers about specific issues or aspects of the game which concern you.

    Aurora Knight

Right now, we have no idea what it will take for a community member to reach Aurora Knight, but we expect it will take at least a few months of active engagement as a Dawn Knight, and a sizable collection of content contribution, or anything else which demonstrates that you have a track record of giving back to the community.

Once you reach Aurora Knight, you’ll have proven yourself to be a reliable, pleasant, and experienced member of the Dekaron player community, and we’ll assign you responsibility accordingly.

We have in-game text which needs to be cleaned up, and not enough time to do it ourselves.

We have DShop items to design, and need to know what players would reasonably be interested in, and how much they’ll pay for it.

We expect that you’ll be helping out your fellow players regularly, when and where opportunities arise.

We’ll look into just about anything you ask us about (and hope that you’ll be doing so regularly).

If you can come up with an in-game event (which fits within the standards set by existing events), there’s a good chance that we can make it happen.

You will be trusted with confidential information, which isn’t available to the general player population.

Reaching Aurora Knight means that you’re well on your way to being granted full GM status (if that's what you're hoping for) as long as you maintain that level of trust.

    Compensation

I’m not yet in a position to promise or hand out payment to anyone, though I won’t expect anyone to do work which considerably benefits our operation without just compensation. But for now, I still strongly suggest that you only consider participation in Project DEKO-OP under the assumption that contribution is the main reward.

While we’re eager to hear thoughtful player feedback and answer long-standing questions, there are still limits to what we can do, have time to do, or can convince the developers to do. So please be aware that while players who work with us in Project DEKO-OP will have more of our attention, you may end up disappointed if you have a single event/feature you want to see implemented in the game, and perceive this project as your best chance of doing so.
