It's really up to you. This game is rather open ended on such things. You can go with one you like or you can aim for something specific like speed or whatever. My personal preference even for a trading ship actually tends to be adventure ships. I prefer to get from point A to B and back to A again faster than having a bigger load. But some people will prefer the bigger load. Others will prefer a safer ship with more cannons to fight off ambushes and attacks. Resources like UWO HQ and such will help you pick ships you like. And if still want feed back, try asking on world chat in-game.
